We are very pleased to announce that, after several months of work, the new SPT warehouse is now operational. This expansion gives us an additional 3,000 m2 of storage space.

We currently have a capacity for 9,600 pallets in total: 5,100 in Spain and 4,500 in Portugal. We have expanded our existing Chemical Product Storage capabilities in order to offer better coverage and service.

Here are some photos of the results:

Loading transport unit with airbags

Today we want to share with you a video showing how workers in our warehouse carry out the loading of a transport unit.

As you can see, we install air bags in the empty space between the pallets to keep the merchandise from shifting during transport.

Through this solution, we reduce the likelihood of product damage during transfers.

It is common to use this solution on long-distance trips or when transporting high-value products.

This process boosts the quality of the service we provide.

We would like to inform you that at SPT Logistic we are taking all the relevant contingency measures to halt the expansion of COVID-19.

We will have two teams, one working from home, and the other working as usual on company premises, in order to minimize the risk of contagion among staff and to guarantee minimum service levels. However, due to these measures, both product inputs and outputs may be affected.

We will inform you and adapt to new situations in response to the how the situation unfolds with reference to the virus.

Today we want to leave you with a very interesting video in which Marta Mendoza answers questions about ATEX: Explosive Atmospheres.

Marta is an expert in legislation on the storage of chemical products. She currently works as a sales director and has more than 10 years of experience as a consultant in the industry.

Last month the European Union agreed to its position in response to a proposal for the use of electronic information in the transport of goods.

All public authorities must accept the information transmitted electronically via certified platforms when companies opt for the digital format to present proof of compliance with legal requirements. If they prefer, they can still submit the required information on paper.

One of the objectives will be to achieve interoperability between the various computer systems and solutions used for the exchange of information.

To ensure that the rules are applied uniformly, common procedures will be detailed, in addition to exhaustive rules for access to such information and its processing by the authorities, according to El Vigía.

One of the drawbacks is that many state authorities still do not accept electronic documents, and most freight companies use paper documents. There is no coherent legal framework, and a large number of different and non-interoperable IT systems are used.

This will be a great step towards the digitization of the sector, saving time and money, and will be good for the environment, according to the EU Council.

In Portugal, this practice has been in force since 2013.

Electronic processing between economic agents and tax authorities is efficient (fast). The phasing out of paper not yet been achieved, however, as some products (e.g. ADR) still require paper.
